SASD = Silicon Avalanche Suppression Diode

This device is a high speed high power silicon chip that acts as a digital switch to overvoltages. Its best feature is that it will switch on and off carrying surge currents indefinitely, without any degradation.

The down side is that the silicon surface area determines the maximum limit of the current that may be carried. If this is exceeded then the silicon experiences its one and only failure mode, a full and final short circuit.

Most importantly is that the SASD provides the best level of surge protection for the most sensitive electronics. This is due to the lowest Voltage Protection Level.
