High Energy or Low Energy and may be created:

Internally by:

• Motors starting and stopping
• Fluorescent lights
• Switching power regulators such as UPS
• Faults and where high current is isolated

Externally by:

• Lightning
• Wind blowing cables together
• Birds and animals contacting lines
• High Voltage power line switching
• Customer faults at other premises
